About Course

About this course

When the emergency department is boarding and recovery is holding patients, the pressure lands on EVS to turn beds faster. Rushing is how surfaces get missed, how contact time gets cut, and how a room gets cleaned twice.

This course teaches the Zero-Miss path: one fixed order for every discharge room, the right product for C. diff and Candida auris rooms, contact time that is never cut, the surfaces audits catch most often, where no-touch UV fits and where it does not, and a clean handoff that gets the room back in the bed system right away. It is built for the people doing the work, in plain language, with field data, real photos, and pressure scenarios.

Inside

  • 10 lessons plus a practice lesson with 5 pressure scenarios
  • 23 diagrams, charts, and field photos, plus 6 short animations
  • 20-question final assessment
  • Certificate of completion
  • Zero-Miss Pathing Card, Lead Room-Audit Sheet and 5-Minute Huddle Guide, and Turn Time Tracker (PDF)

For managers

The Room-Audit Sheet uses the high-touch surfaces from the CDC environmental cleaning checklist, the Huddle Guide gives your leads five weeks of shift-start reinforcement, and the Turn Time Tracker shows where the minutes in a turn really go. The course supports your EVS training and competency program. It does not replace it, and completing it does not by itself meet any accreditation or regulatory requirement. Professional development only; no CE credit.

What Will You Learn?

  • Name the four places turn time is lost and the one thing that never gets faster.
  • Match the disinfectant to the room using the isolation sign, EPA List K, and EPA List P.
  • Follow the Zero-Miss path in order: stage, strip, change gloves, perimeter, bed, restroom, floor.
  • Use a microfiber cloth or disposable wipe without spreading germs between surfaces.
  • Keep every surface wet for the full label contact time and sequence work so the clock runs in parallel.
  • Self-check high-touch surfaces, explain fluorescent marker and ATP results, and release the room right away.
  • Name the surfaces audits most often catch, and use habits that keep you from missing them.
  • Tell discharge, isolation, and deep cleans apart, and explain why no-touch disinfection never replaces the manual clean.
  • Respond to pressure to place a patient early, skip contact time, clean a room that does not match its flag, or leave mid-clean.
