About Course

About this course

A hospital is open to everyone, at every hour, on the worst day of many people’s lives. This course teaches the technical side of hospital security work: what the role covers and where its authority stops, how to patrol and control access, how to respond to medical emergencies, how to use your equipment and radio, what the law allows, how to write reports that hold up, how to respond to internal and external critical incidents, how to communicate under pressure, and what use-of-force policy requires.

It is built from Impact Training Company’s 2027 Healthcare Security Technical Skills curriculum and reviewed against IAHSS guidelines, The Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA and the 2025 AHA Guidelines.

How it works

  • 10 lessons plus a one-night-shift practice lab, with real hospital scenarios
  • A 5-question practice quiz after each lesson, unlimited tries
  • Final exam: 40 questions from a bank of 100, 80 percent to pass, 3 attempts
  • A Security Officer Pocket Card you can download and keep
  • Certificate of completion

What this course is, and is not

This is technical knowledge training. It does not replace a state security officer license where one is required, employer training, use-of-force or weapons qualification, restraint training, or a BLS card. It is not legal advice; state law and hospital policy govern your authority.

This certificate recognizes completion of technical knowledge training. Hands-on competency is verified by the employer.
