About Course

About this course

Most workplace violence training is built for nurses. Transporters, EVS, food and nutrition, and facilities team members work differently: often alone, often in elevators and back corridors, often with their hands on a bed or cart. When someone gets angry, they are usually the closest staff member and often the least prepared.

This 70-minute course gives them a short set of moves they can use on their next shift: how to spot trouble early, where to stand, what to say, how to get out of an elevator safely, with or without a patient, and how to call for help.

For managers

Since January 1, 2022, Joint Commission accredited hospitals must provide workplace violence prevention training at hire, annually and when changes occur. This course is built to support that training for non-clinical team members. It does not replace your facility's workplace violence prevention program or its required training, and completing it does not by itself meet any accreditation or regulatory requirement. The department pack includes a completion and score report on request.

Questions

Does this course carry CE credit? No. It is professional development with a certificate of completion.

Does it teach physical or hands-on techniques? No. It teaches verbal de-escalation and positioning only. Team members are taught never to hold or restrain anyone.

Does it replace our hospital's workplace violence training? No. It supports your program with content built for non-clinical roles. Your facility's policy and codes always come first.

How is this different from Difficult Patient and Family Conversations? Difficult Conversations covers everyday frustration: delays, repeated questions and complaints. This course picks up when a person is already hostile or the situation is turning unsafe, including elevators, positioning and calling for help.

Can we reassign department seats? Yes. Seats never expire and can be reassigned when someone leaves.
