About Course

One of 30 ITC Continuing Education modules. See every module, the CE Access passes and how hours reach your record.

Competency records that hold up when a hospital surveyor asks for proof: what a defensible record contains, documenting a deferred or challenged rating, records kept at least five years, and handling an audit. Package submission steps are in the free CHTI Credentialing Package Guide, not this module. Coded CHTI-CE-16.

Carries 2 CE hours toward CHTI renewal. Hours post when you pass the end-of-module assessment.

One self-paced module with worked scenarios, the tools it refers to, and an applied activity at the end. Then a 15-question assessment drawn at random from a 30-question bank: pass with 11 of 15 correct. You get three attempts, each retake shows a different set, and every answer comes with an explanation.

See every module, the CE rules and how hours reach your record on the Continuing Education page.

What Will You Learn?

  • Name the Joint Commission, CMS and OSHA requirements that a transport competency file has to satisfy, and the interval each one sets.
  • Explain why the five-year CHT renewal does not by itself meet the Joint Commission’s ongoing competence requirement, and what fills the gap.
  • Write a competency record that a surveyor can verify: who, what, how, by whom, when, result and signature.
  • Document a deferred item, a correction and a challenged rating so the record stays defensible.
  • Apply the right retention period to each kind of record, including contracted staff.
  • Prepare for, and respond to, a surveyor’s request for competency evidence.
