About Course

One of 30 ITC Continuing Education modules. See every module, the CE Access passes and how hours reach your record.

Specialized technique, equipment selection and team coordination for bariatric transport.

Professional development for transporters. Carries 1 CE hour toward the optional CHT CE Active notation. It carries no CE toward CHTI or CPTMP renewal. Hours post when you pass the end-of-module assessment.

One self-paced module with worked scenarios, the tools it refers to, and an applied activity at the end. Then a 15-question assessment drawn at random from a 30-question bank: pass with 11 of 15 correct. You get three attempts, each retake shows a different set, and every answer comes with an explanation.

What Will You Learn?

  • Read an equipment rating plate and confirm the device is rated above the patient weight before any move.
  • Select bariatric-appropriate equipment for a lateral transfer, a seated transport and an ambulatory assist.
  • Plan the route before the move, including doorway widths, elevator capacity and the destination surface.
  • Coordinate a team lift with a single caller and a stated count.
  • Communicate with a bariatric patient in terms of the equipment and the plan rather than their body.
  • Make the hard calls on ratings, route, team and dignity, and keep a written route plan for your common bariatric trips.
