About this course

Since January 1, 2026, inpatient psychiatric facilities report the CMS Psychiatric Inpatient Experience (PIX) survey, with results headed for public reporting on Care Compare. Two of its 23 statements name Counselors/Technicians directly: caring and respectful, and attentive to my needs. Seven more rate the unit itself: clean, physically safe, quiet space, food, fresh air, weekends, and something to do. Patients usually fill it out on the unit in the day before discharge. This course teaches ENTER, calm person-first words, checks with dignity, early signs, and confidentiality, in plain words, for every role on the unit. It does not teach physical intervention; that stays with your crisis training.
