About this course

The technical side of hospital security tells you what to do. This course builds the thinking behind it: how to find the right information fast, see what others miss, write a report narrative that holds up, talk with co-workers, supervisors, police and the public, take control of a scene without force, calm a volatile person with words, and decide what comes first when everything happens at once.

It is built from Impact Training Company’s 2027 Healthcare Security Officer Strategic Skill Building curriculum and reviewed against IAHSS guidelines, The Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA and HIPAA.

How it works

  • 11 lessons plus a one-day-shift practice lab, with real hospital scenarios
  • A 5-question practice quiz after each lesson, unlimited tries
  • Final exam: 40 questions from a bank of 110, 80 percent to pass, 3 attempts
  • A Report Narrative Checklist you can download and keep
  • Certificate of completion

Where it fits

This is the skill building course in the ITC hospital security sequence: Choices: Ethics, then Strategic Skill Building, then Healthcare Security Officer: Technical Skills.

What this course is, and is not

This is skill building knowledge training. It does not replace a state security officer license where one is required, employer training, use-of-force or weapons qualification, restraint training, or a BLS card. It teaches no physical techniques. It is not legal advice; state law and hospital policy govern your authority.

This certificate recognizes completion of skill building training. On-the-job performance is verified by the employer.
